David M. Pillers

David M. Pillers is a 3rd Generation Attorney with more than 25 years of experience serving clients

throughout Iowa and Illinois. As a Shareholder and President of Pillers & Richmond, he leads a practice focused on Estate Planning & Probate, Real Estate and Business Law, offering thoughtful

guidance and trusted counsel.

A dedicated public servant, David has served as City Attorney for the City of Grand Mound since 2007 and has provided legal guidance to other Iowa municipalities. His earlier work built his depth in criminal, family and employment law and contributed to his extensive trial experience.

David began his legal career through hands‑on roles including a legal internship at the LaPorte County Prosecutor’s Office and legislative research positions with the U.S. Senate Judiciary Subcommittee and U.S. Senator Charles Grassley. Upon returning to the area, he was involved in multiple murder and other criminal felony cases. He also has extensive experience in and has tried and handled many civil matters.

He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Courts of Iowa and Illinois, as well as the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois and the Southern District of Iowa.

Beyond his legal work, David is deeply engaged in community leadership through organizations such as the Clinton and DeWitt Chambers of Commerce, River Bluff Community Foundation, DeWitt Noon Lions Club, and the DeWitt Police Foundation.

David earned his Juris Doctor from Valparaiso University School of Law, where he received academic honors, and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a Business minor from Valparaiso University.
